The weather swings seem wilder than usual this year, but you can be sure the sales will come regardless. Presidents’ Day has been a big sale day for high-ticket items for a while, usually focusing on mattresses, appliances, and TV closeouts after the Super Bowl.
Lately, these big sale days have bled into other categories that are more closely aligned with survival and prepping. Outdoor gear gets thrown in as winter starts to wind down. Solar panels and power stations will join any sale they can. Firearms, emergency food, and power tools round out the best categories to find prepping deals on Presidents’ Day.
Presidents’ Day lands Monday, February 17th this year but the deals have already begun and some (but not all) last through the end of the week. We’ll be updating throughout the weekend as deals sell out and as new deals worth checking out open up.

Firearms, Accessories, and Ammo Deals
Firearms, accessories, and ammo all see pretty good sales around Presidents’ Day. Maybe it’s the lull after hunting season closes down at the end of winter. Or, it could be because firearms fall into the ‘big ticket item’ category like mattresses and appliances that also go on sale this time of year. Either way, Presidents’ Day is a good time to take advantage of sales on guns, especially if you are looking to get into shooting for cheap.
- Ermox XPRO-P 12-Gauge Pump-Action Shotgun – $100 (was $250)
- SAR 9 9mm Pistol – $219 (was $499) – Not bad for the price, especially when it’s on such a big sale.
- Radical RF-15 5.56 Rifle – $370 (was $650)
Ammo at some low prices (see more at our Ammo Price Tracker):
- Winchester 9mm 115 Grain 200 Rounds – $44 (was $70) – $0.22/round is about as good as it gets- especially for less than a case.

Emergency Food Deals
Augason Farms is the top pick from our best emergency food supplier review, and they are running 15% off almost everything using the code SAVE15 at their direct site. While the emergency food buckets still don’t beat Amazon’s prices (we track Augason Farms deals daily), a few bulk buckets and the #10 cans are worth checking out. If you get over $99 in the cart, you also get free shipping. All of these stack on the existing sales, so check out the Augason Farms Presidents’ Day Sale.
Here are the better buys:
- Quick Oats Bucket – $19 (was $37)
- Regular Rolled Oats Bucket – $34 (was $51)
- Southwest Chili #10 Can – $35 (was $48)
Legacy Food Storage is running 10% off sitewide with code LEGACY, plus they’re throwing in packs of powdered eggs (worthwhile these days) when you buy their 29-pound 120-serving entree bucket.
Valley Food Storage has 15% off sitewide too, no code needed.
Besides pre-packaged food, some of the machines and supplies to do it yourself are also on sale.
Food Preservation Appliances and Packaging
Some big sales on appliances and packing supplies that’ll help you put whatever food you want in your long-term pantry:
- Mesliese Vacuum Sealer – $70 (was $120)
- Magic Mill Pro Food Dehydrator – $139 (was $200)
- Harvest Right Freeze Dryers – $100 OFF with code LOVE100 – It might not seem like much, but this puts the best freeze dryers at the lowest price ever since the coupon stacks with the winter sale.
Household Tools
Tools come in handy for a variety of prepper projects. Whether you are installing a door reinforcement kit, security cameras, or setting up a rain barrel- you’ll need tools to get it done.
Now most of these hand and power tools don’t fall under prepping and survival specifically, but the deals are good enough to share anyway. I use tools every day to help review gear with testing and setting up new projects of my own.
DeWalt is leading the way with the power tool sales, followed by some other great deals:
- DeWalt Cordless Drill and Impact Driver 20V MAX Combo – $139 (was $239)
- DeWalt Cordless Grinder Tool Only Brushless 20V MAX – $144 (was $249)
- DeWalt Reciprocating Saw Tool Only 20V MAX – $89 (was $159)
